Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi all, I bought a DNS 323 about a week ago after reviewing the usual, and finding this site and the WIKI. Installed 2 x 1TB WD drives and updated firmware to 1.06.
So far I've installed:
1. Fun plug 0.5
2. Enabled telnet
3. Installed NZBGET (&WEB) from: http://dns323.kood.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4324
4. installed a USB key using USBstorage.ko from the WIKI
5. Enabled root user
I've go the following problems which I'm struggling to resolve with my very basic linux skills.
1. NZBget does not start on restart. I have to run the following:
cd /mnt/HD_a2/newsbin/
sh startweb.sh start
sh startnzbget.sh start
If this was windows - it'd be a service I could set to auto, or a process in the startup - how do I do this on the 323?
2. I realised the HDDs are always spinning (I think: lights on the front always on) which got me thinking about the polling of the NZB folder, therefore I thought the easist thing to do would be to put the NZB folder on a USB key. I installed the usbstorage.ko file which worked but am having some troubles:
a. doesn't restart after reboot
b. I created a folder, set perms with 'chmod 777 nzb' and shared accordingly however cannot write to this share or folder from Vista (can from root via telnet)
3. I created another NZB folder back on the hard disk under volume_1 and shared it through the DNS-323 page, however cannot write directly to this share (however I can via \\nas\volume_1\nzb. Seems to me like a share perms problem not file/folder perms problem however settings appear as per other shares??
Many thanks in advanced and apologies for going over old ground (possibly) but searching forum/wiki hasn't helped.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
1) Upon restart FFP process the executable (Those with the executable bit set) scripts found in the /ffp/start folder. I think the problem here is that startnzbget.sh is not in the /ffp/start folder. Try placing a copy of startnzbget.sh in the /ffp/start folder.
Sorry,
I'm unable to offer any insight on items 2 and 3

Hi Bob, thanks for that - it did the trick and I understand the logic too. I'm using Putty, and it seems exectuable flagged files are green, e.g. telnetd.sh in the same folder.
I think for the USB issue not starting, I need to do the same thing, but unsure which file it would be?

I used the ffp from uli to put everything on the usb stick:
http://wolf-u.li/1318/fun_plug-05-auf-d … xistingffp
That way the harddisks spin down.
Please check who the owner is of the folder with ls -l (use putty for that command)

Thanks, although my german is a little lacking. So do the HDDs not spin down with the fun plug installed?
