Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi,
One of the reasons I bought a DNS323 was to UPnP only my music to my many Omnifi DMS1 and not have a PC on all the time.
I found that the DNS323 inbuilt UPnP server is very flakly with my DMS1s, one minute it will share, the next it will not.
I installed the fun plug and started Mediatomb. Pointed it at my music in Volume_1/Music and away it went adding the files.
Now I have over 80GB of music comprising of around 20,500 files at present. it will only get bigger.
I started the files add at about 21:00 last night, and have woken his morning to find the hard disk lights still flickering and the web interface still saying "Adding files". So it has been running for just over 12 hours and still not finished.???
I was meant to be running my weekly backup at 21:30 last night, but put that off, as I was not sure that the NAS would cope with so much disk access.
Anyway does Mediatomb always take such a long time to add the music.? I have rescan at 1800, but I would expect it to just add any new files (which have not been addeded yet) rather than scan the whole folder again.?
I'm on the 1.08 Beta which I upgraded to in an attempt to use its nfs server. I can downgrade to 1.06 which is the fw that came with the unit. I am a Linux novice. :-)
TIA
Edit: Just tried setting scan mode to basic and timed and after pressing the set button get "Error: relative path given to split_path: ." and the settings are not saved. It will accept Timed and Full options.

Give it a try: http://dns323.kood.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3098
I'm using this build. I don't import ID tags, because I use Artist/Album/Song directory structure, I don't need searching for genre and year. I have 36800 mp3s (~190GB). First import took about an hour, rescan takes cca. 10 minutes.
