I am having problems with the unfs server in terms of it being full featured. Assumption is that using a "normal" nfs service via the kernel may solve these problems.
It appears that to get a normal NFS server (vs the unfs) a kernel with nfs support is required.
1) why doesn't the default firmware have NFS support? Is this a size issue with the kernel image vs the available flash memory? Odd that a network NAS device does not support NFS........
2) if one goes through the trouble of creating a custom kernel and repackaged firmware with NFS support will it be to big in the end?
3) if size is an issue, are there other features that can be left out in the kernel?
4) if funplug-reloaded is used with a modifed 2.6.12.xx kernel do you loose all the stock firmware features? Will this work with firmware 1.06?

I too want to get NFS working but it's looking complicated. Has anyone successfully got NFS working with f/w 1.08b05 for instance? Last I read there were issues where the unit hung up after a few hours after spinning the disks to hell.

NFS appears to have been removed from Beta 5 :-(
From comments on the D-Link forum they may have fixed the stability issue and may be putting it back in but who knows - I hope so, I would love the point my ESX box at it for its VM images.
