USB drive support

Hi guys,

I purchased a DSM-G600 recently, and haven't been able to get it working properly.

I understand that NTFS support is read-only, so I backed up my data to another hard drive, and formatted my USB drive to ext3 using Ubuntu.

When I connect the drive to the DSM-G600, the USB HDD light blinks green for three or four seconds, and then it goes to solid orange. Thinking it might be an issue with permissions, I did a chmod -R 777 on the root of the USB hard drive (again, using my PC), and connected the HDD again, with the same results.

I then formatted the hard drive to ext2, and did the same as above. No luck so far.

What am I missing? Is the USB drive supposed to be formatted in a certain way for it to be recognized by the DSM-G600? Basically, all I want is to be able to read/write to that external hard drive (and remove the noisy 40G IDE hard drive that I'm currently using)

Any help will be greatly appreciated. DLink support has not been of much use so far sad

Re: USB drive support

Make sure that ext fs is created with 128 inode size. ( -I 128)
