Translated below ---

… =DNS%2D323 - non so se funzione con i DNS-323 nel'europa.

Translation (I haven't spoken or written Italian in 5 years... so I THINK I wrote):

The upgrade file is found at http://support.dlink.com/products/view. … =DNS%2D323 - though I don't know if these updates work with the european DNS-323.

Re: wich firmware (stable) i must install for EU unit (Iitaly)

Ok, I am not a pro with the 323, but here are my 2 cents :
I am french and instaled the 1.03 US firmware without any problem (even if that removed my garanty, but there is not a chance that if I bring back my 323 to the store I bought it under garanty they would check the firmware version)

I dont think that if you make a 'restore factory default', the original bios would be reloaded. That implies that the 323 has a second memory with the 1.01 bios burned in it, and I dont think this is a feature the 323 has. So factory default isjust a reset of the settings, not the whole firmware.

As for the upgrade from 1.02 to 1.03, I am not sure the drives would be formatted if you choosed the ext2 option to begin with.

So I would say, go 1.03 but make a backup before!

If you are using EXT2 file system and 1.02, 1.03 firmware will NOT ask you to format your drives. ANd you are correct, there is not a secondary flash rom with the old firmware written on it. Only one flash exists smile.

Re: wich firmware (stable) i must install for EU unit (Iitaly)

Hi,
I am french too, and like guile2912 I also upgraded from firmware 1.01b to 1.03 last week.
My disks were initially formated in ext2 (not ext3).

The firmware upgrade did NOT killed the data. (Note that I first tested it with spare drives to be sure)

BUT THE FIRMWARE UPGRADE 1.01->1.03 DID KILLED THE RAID CONFIGURATION in my case.

Meaning I had previously a big raid1 unit, and after upgrading the firmware, all I got  was 2 NON-synchronized drives containing the same data,  which was definitively not good to me because I needed the mirroring security.

Then I had to transfer all the data to a third disk, rebuild the raid1 and transfer back the data onto the recontructed raid, which can be extremely time consuming.

Still, I consider upgrading to 1.03 provides with good improvment and does not regret it at all.

cali34,
