DynIP Client compile

Has anyone else tried and succeeded in compiling or cross compiling the dynip client?
I am inexperienced with the linux and tried to compile it using tools installed with Fonz's fun plug. I get a load of errors and the compiled program tells me that I am on a fixed Ip address (which I am not) when run. I can't cross compile as I have no other linux machine. Any one have any hints or information they could share with me? ...how to?
Thanks to anyone who would help.

Re: DynIP Client compile

Go with the curl or wget method instead

DNS-323 - Excellent in many cases.
DNS-313 - Love it, but hate that D-link only prior the DNS-323 development.
DSM-G600 - Noisy, slow, unstable and ugly. I simply hate it so far.

Hey njoy: "curl or wget method"? I am not sure I know what you mean. Could you please elaborate? I havn't seen any pre-compiled vesions of the software around so I downloaded the source from the dynip support site.

Doesn't your NAS has a fixed IP address? The DynIP client cannot possibly probe if your public IP address is static or not. Only your modem knows.
Reading the http://www.dynip.com/main/ns/123/doc/42/lang/ENdocumentation[/url] I have the impression that DynIP client is designed to run on the computer which gets the public IP address, which is your router, or the system connected to the dial-in modem.
Have a look at the config file, maybe you can specify that the client is running behind a router.
