To get the Downloader running you need to enable it with the latest 'Easy Search Utility'

utorrent is used as I know..

It will be very interesting if µTorrent is used as I always though µTorrent is only released for windows. Didn't know there is nix variant

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Ha, so you can always get latest firmware.

BTW, I saw bt_torrents under /sys/crfs/sbin, I tried to use this to add bittorrent directly. I tried btget command line options, looks like "bt_torrents -f <my torrent file>" didn't give me "input error", but nothing happened. I checked the binary file, it looks like it try to use /mnt/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/BT/.Conf and /mnt/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/BT/.Torrents folder, I think one for configuration, another one for torrents file, but after I issue the command, those two folder (or files) not created. There has another file called /tmp/bt_folder_error, but cannot found either.

Is there any setting for it? Any usage of that command? BTW, bt_torrents only 5K, such a small program can handle bittorrent?

Ah, perfect! I actually solved it by using your 'lite' version and reducing the number of connections as you suggested. Works now, thanks a lot!

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

I got it works, trying to download bittorrent file that total 2.13G. Will let you know the result.

BTW, if anybody want to use a remote GUI for mldonkey, you can try sancho. it's java based, and can manage almost everything. much better than web UI.

Welcome, cos I realized that quite a few people didn't tweak the connection settings causing the unit to overload hence crippling the other services.

craft,

You encountered the disk full situation. Did you use the ipblocking feature I mentioned here? I suspect that the list is filling up ram0.

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Here are the results of my first few days using mldonkey 2.8.7 (lite + GDlib)
My system runs fw 1.03
fonz plug 0.3 (telnet + dropbear ssh + uptimed)
no debian etch (yet)

I also experienced that my DNS stopped responding from windows several times after starting mlnet. Usually the time period was from 15 minutes to a few hours later. When logging in to the DNS after this has happened, you can notice that there is no smbd process left, so it must have crashed

Then I went on to change some parameters in downloads.ini (max_opened_connections changed to 100, max_connections_per_second changed to 2, loop_delay changed to 50, client_buffer_size changed to 1000000). The last change was due to a large number of buffer overflow in the log file when using default value of 500000

These changes helped and so far I havent had a smbd crash in 2 days

I first started mldonkey 2.8.7 lite without GD and then switched to with GD, I can not say that I have noticed any difference.

And here is my df when running mlnet and all above applications:
~ # df
Filesystem           1k-blocks      Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/ram0                 9911      6866      2533  73% /
/dev/md0             238425464 197263388  41162076  83% /mnt/HD_a2

notice that my /dev/ram0 is also 73% and not 99% as other posters have seen

Lets keep up the good work and support shadowandy and fonz and all the other heroes around here!

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Here are some failures I see in my mlnet.log file each time I reboot the system. They appear not to be critical since everything starts fine, but they could still be good to take a look at...

2007/07/27 12:15:06 [Gettext] Loading language resource mlnet_strings.EN_UTF-8
2007/07/27 12:15:06 [Gettext] set_strings_file: Exception Stream.Failure in mlnet_strings.EN_UTF-8 at pos 61440

2007/07/27 12:15:24 [DNS] could not resolve min.midco.net.nyud.net, check URL
2007/07/27 12:15:24 [cWeb] using local version of web_infos/level1.gz, HTTP request failed (error 0)

2007/07/27 12:15:29 [IPblock] loading web_infos/level1.gz
2007/07/27 12:15:30 [IPblock] Exception Sys_error("No space left on device") while extracting from web_infos/level1.gz
the last line is most likely related to a too small /dev/ram0?

and finally, when using the lite core is it a correct assumption that the files server.met, contact.dat and nodes.gzip are all related to the edonkey protocol and should be removed if only using bittorrent? Before I removed these, I also got these lines in the log file:
2007/07/26 18:52:55 [cWeb] request guarding.p2p (http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/level1.gz)
2007/07/26 18:52:55 [cWeb] Failure("Unknown kind [server.met]") while loading http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

craft,
your /dev/ram0 definitely looks healthy to me and I belief you won't/didn't encounter the checksum error or non-completing torrent. It is definitely normal to have 3 processes of mlnet running. I am looking at the documentation/wiki on mldonkey to figure out why mlnet crashes when I compile without gtk.

saltisol,
great! Your /dev/ram0 is healthy too. What I can conclude at this point is that running ipblocking takes up the space. We should avoid it until I figure a way to force mlnet to utilize space on the /mnt/HD_a2 instead of relying on /tmp.

Yes you are correct that /dev/ram0 is too small hence mlnet is unable to extract level1.gz. geoip, guarding, ... is also used for bittorrent as well. What you try is to issue the command vwi in mlnet and remove the stuffs you feel is unnecessary. Toy with the settings abit and perhaps we pool the effort together to release a couple of setting file that others can simply plug and play.

Thanks everybody for the response so far. And thanks for testing out the binary. smile

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Well, I saw a piece of good news on mldonkey's webpage. That is .... *drum rolls*

MLDonkey release 2.9.0

And not sure if it is a good news to you all. Check out my website

If you face problems, clear your mldonkey directory away. Before you do that, back up your setting files (*.ini)

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Thanks for MLDonkey release 2.9.0, just installed it.  When I run port test on 6881, I got the follow error message:

Port test failure, Check wrong : azureus_rand_23449 /

What does this mean?  How do I fix this?  I have my router forward port 6881 to my dns323.  If I disable the port forwarding from my router and run the port test, I got a different message.  So, I think the port forwarding is working.

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

dlu_tm,
perhaps you can try restarting the core as I don't face the problem you have.

FileTP    Porttest not available
BitTorrent    Porttest finished 0m 14s ago
Port test OK!

Re: torrent clients for DNS-323

Will installing 2.9 delete my torrents in progress right now?  Assuming that i kill the client then overwrite the two files.  Also, after a torrent is completed, how do I continue to seed it?
