DNS-321 uPnP access

I've just set up my stock DNS-321; no package downloads, etc.     I have a 1T RAID0 volume 1 and a 1TB JBOD volume 2.

From what I understand uPnP supports XBOX360 and other clients - e.g. Windows Media Player 11+.     I have the uPnP AV server enabled and set up on

    Volume_2/UPnP

When I click on the default dlink-0B3EB3 under Media Player, then Pictures I get:

"The remote media library did not allow the connection.  Please contact the device manugacture for more information."

A couple questions

- why doesn't it allow access?
- do sub-folders need to be set up named "Pictures, Music,..." or is that an abtraction provided by the server?
- I assume it might take a few minutes for media files to show up after being written
- are media files installed/written by other means (e.g. smb shares) or are there some uPnP clients that also write/upload them?
- if the folder set up under admin was root would/should all the media files on the volume be available - is this independent of any smb rights?
- same for the iTunes server?

Thanks all!
