DNS-323 ffp and irssi

Hello super-great forum! smile

Just started fiddeling with my new DNS-323, and all is good with ffp, thanks to these forums!

However, I cannot get irssi to work. Tried just compiling it with some hassle, and finally got stuck on some "tputs" errors on terminfo-core.c stuff... Couldnt solve it.
Found http://dns323.kood.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=34275 and tried the http://darkcrusader.gotdns.org/fun_plug … 8.14-1.tgz
which seem to be for DNS-313 really. Installed OK, but upon starting irssi i get:

irssi: can't load library 'libgmodule-2.0.so.0'

Googled my butt off, but can't find a solution...
Any tips on installing irssi on DNS-323 ?

Have a great day folks!

Re: DNS-323 ffp and irssi

Install glib-2.14.6-1.tgz from /fun_plug on http://darkcrusader.gotdns.org.
After this put in shell 'ldconfig'.
Thats all. smile

library, library, library... always remember about library smile

Let force will be with you. smile

Re: DNS-323 ffp and irssi

Hi!

Thanks for that, it solved that problem!

I also installed ncurses from there to solve some other problem. Now irssi runs, but the screen just flashes black, then irssi quits. No error msg or anything. Can't find anything in /var/log/messages or anything either, and no irssi parameter to display errors...

What to do? :S

Re: DNS-323 ffp and irssi

Are you run syslogd?
if no run it: /ffp/start/syslogd.sh start

else install gettext too...

marek.koszalin:

Thanks for taking your time!

Yes I have syslogd running, still can't find anything useful in /var/log ... hmm
I already have gettext installed.

Don't know what to do. Darn Transmission... sad
This is how i run it, and you see it suddenly gets killed after perhaps 1 minute. Until then I can use the web interface.

Hmmm... I don't know. Mayby something wrong with Darn Transmission? I used irssi from long time and I don't have any problem with him or other components.

Re: DNS-323 ffp and irssi

Hmm, okay dude...

Right now Im trying to fix PPTP Client trough my DD-WRT, and its not going very well... When anything Linux is going bad, it takes me days and alot of anger!! When all is working, Im happy though. Hahah...

Im wondering what would be best though... You're running opware and irssi then? I couldn't get irssi working with ffp without optware at all.
I find it hard deciding what solution is the best, ffp, optware or Debian? Seems like whatever I choose, one thing is always working but not the other...

I am running irssi with optware w/o issues. IMO, using two alternative package tools (ipck and funpck) is not ideal but they may be used simultaneously under certain circumstances. Did you get irssi running under optware finally?

Re: DNS-323 ffp and irssi

Hi thomaskunze!

I actually settled with chroot Debian Lenny, which seem to be working best for me. Will see how well this works for a while now...
At least I got sabnzbd+ working for Usenet really well.

Sorry to revive a dead topic but what is meant by "After this put in shell 'ldconfig'."?

Re: DNS-323 ffp and irssi

Thought I would give my feedback as I had the same issues with irssi.

I had to install the following packages to get it to work.

glib-2.14.6-1
gettext-0.17-5
ncurses-5.7-4
perl-5.10

Funny thing was running irssi from telnet vs ssh gave an error instead of just flashing black screen:

Can't locate Symbol.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at (eval 9) line 9.

thus led me to install perl
