Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Re: Firmware 1.08 Question

no risk of loosing data in the upgrade process?
(I know there is probably no risk-less firmware upgrade process, I want to know if it is generally working well)

Re: Firmware 1.08 Question

I upgraded from 1.06 to 1.09 and there didn't seem to be a need to reset to defaults. After I re-enabled fun_plug (0.4 not 0.5) ssh worked fine without recreating it. I only needed to recreate the ssh and a few of the shares after I upgraded the drive with ffp in it when I did a cp of all the files from the old drive to the new one formatted by the dns-323 (did that on my PC using Parted Magic 4 Linux on the Ultimate Boot CD). All my ffp programs worked fine as before with that exception. Telnet can be made executable (enabled) via ftp which can be enabled at any time in the web interface, not much of an issue.
