[Serial Connection] Where can i find ready-to-use "picoblade" wires ?

Hello,

i own a DNS 323 revB1, and i want to plug a serial cable on the small picoblade connector. (to be able to restore the original FW if anything goes wrong).

I read http://dns323.randomhacking.net/, but my problem is: Where to find an appropriate crimped cable on the internet ? i don't want to buy 10 molex connectors, 100 crimp terminals and so on ^^... Just one cable !

And i'm not very confident about soldering anything directly on the board ^^

Does anybody here had the same problem, and found a website to order from ?

(ps: i'm from france, sorry for my english...)

You can buy nokia's cable and simply modify it.
For details look here: http://buffalo.nas-central.org/index.ph … inkstation

Re: [Serial Connection] Where can i find ready-to-use "picoblade" wires ?

Mig: Hmm... seems to, yes ! Thanks wink

Isildur: It could be a solution if i was confident enough about soldering anything on a really small board like the dns motherboard ^^ (i've no problem handling software, but hardware .... err...)... But your advice is precious, thanks too wink

I'll be back ! if my experience can help anybody else...

Thanks again !

Re: [Serial Connection] Where can i find ready-to-use "picoblade" wires ?

Hey !! i think i've found an other solution !

By surfing again over the internet, i've found these pieces of hardware at Newark ( = Farnell in europe)

a cable assembly with a crimp socket terminal at the end:
http://www.newark.com/molex/06-66-0015/ … dp/93K4877
(specs here: http://datasheet.octopart.com/500798100 … 331197.pdf)

and an empty receptacle:
http://www.newark.com/molex/51021-0400/ … dp/38C9871

I think there is no need for a crimper, as it seems we can put the socket-ended cable directly into the receptacle without any tool. Do you think i'm right ?

I've just received the wires and receptacles from RS: it's easy to assemble, just need my eyes and my nails ^^ (it's very small, but easy, it took me maybe 2min!).

It costs me around 20euros, it's expensive, but it works ^^ (and i did'nt burn my dns ^^)

Thanks !
