Hi,
I have an acer aspire easystore which is pretty similar to the 323 (also marvell...) which ffp running. I got one 1TB (since beginning) and a 2TB samsung installed. Because the server is running mostly 24/7 I checkt the HDDs the first time with
smartctl -d marvell -t long /dev/sda (b)
The HDD with 1TB is OK, but running the test on the 2TB I get a read_failure after 10%.
The info out of smartctl see attached.
If I run smartctl -H it returns Passed for both drives.
I am not so familiar with smartmontools perhaps somebody knows what to do.
btw the 2TB drive is not even 1 year old.
Thanks

It does look like that you have a bad block.
You might want to look at http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/badblockhowto.html
I cannot explain why the -H option says "passed". My guess is that it reports the "health" of the SMART data on the disk, and not so much of the disk itself. But more careful reading of the docs may come up with more.
In any case, the above link seems really helpful.
