Re: RE Transmission

Ensure the network configuration is correct (GW for example) and test that you can ping an outside address.

Re: RE Transmission

But I don't have any name servers and I just want for a normal connection (192.168.x.xxx:62777).
What command line to be written in the host file? or rather any sample?

Once a again. Thanks.

Re: RE Transmission

the name servers come from the router verify that you have internet connection at the dns-323 try doing a ping to google.ca or something and see if anything is returned

Re: RE Transmission

I can ping to outside world from DNS via telnet via ip address only. For E.g. I cannot ping google.ca   why i type the syntax : ping google.ca it replied with bad address. Therefore i went find out the ip address of google.ca which is 209.85.132.104, then i can ping from DNS via the syntax : ping 209.85.132.104 and there is response.

So you mean to key in the google.ca and 209.85.132.104 into the hosts file?

By the way, I using Win 7 and DNS 323 - Firmware V1.08. I using the transmission v2.13 and done all the access rights issues and opening of the required ports to the outside world.

It is very strange still have "tracker did not respond". I searched around, did not seems to have any definite answers.

As below:
root@xxxx :~# ping 209.85.132.104

Re: RE Transmission

If you can ping by IP but not by hostname, then you has a DNS server issue. Nothing to do with Transmission.

Re: RE Transmission

That is correct funfiler in the dns-323 alt-f web page look for the section on setup then host make sure the nameserver section has an ip address in it if you are using a router put your routers internal ip address in there and save it.

The proble is that you can ping a ip addy but not a name.com your name server needs to be set up or you will not be able to torrent

Re: RE Transmission

Finally solved it.

I went to the DNS-323, server configuration login, under the setup -> LAN -> DNS1/DNS2 and add the ip address required. No need to add any host files.
I using the Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) which was found in http://dns323.kood.org/forum/viewtopic. … 78#p39778.

After which is restart the transmission and it works immediately.

Thanks for the great help and patience.
