unable to enter setup for dns

Hi

search brought up nothing that really matched my problem. One known issue is similar tho now problem has gone further. so sorry if this has been discussed before  but i couldnt
find it  soo....

irregularly but still common, i have the my dns-323 loose it network map (win7) normally i restart dns, use easy search to restart in settings and it works fine

today, the same thing happened, now im wondering if it is the dns over heating.   BUT today.  easy search will not find dns, entering dns ip directly to browser comes up empty too.  dns starting working again on its own (access files), which is why im wondering if its an overheating issue.  but there is still no way i can find or enter setup of dns

i can access the login screen for dns but when i enter UN ans PASS. then it tells me the page is not available, direct ip access is same

but i can still access all files on dns thru comp, can see printer connected (havent tried printing) ,have lost DLNA capability

not sure if i want to reset cause if still not work then i lose ability to backup data (650+GB)

have tried resetting every other piece of gear in network (router, switch and second wireless AP),  tried new cable for dns

please help  im lost

Thanks

RellikZephyr

EDIT:  the error showing after entering UN and PASS is

Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error

i have my anti virus and personal firewall disabled

Re: unable to enter setup for dns

no one seems to be able to help me

soo...

i was thinking about putting alt-f firmware on my nas.

couple questions

seen this already answered  but want to make sure cause of importance. by running alt-f over top of original firmware, i will NOT lose data on disk yes???

does alt-f come with a DLNA server installed? or do i need to install?  and if so...how?  i read about creating packages but had no idea how to

and with alt-f  can i install other packages of my choice?  like audio streaming services

Thanks
