XBMC -> DNS323

Hi,

I haven't had my DNS for long but when I got it I could access it from my Xbox XBMC via the Workgroup SMB. I read about some issues with RAID-1 with the firmware 1.01 that came with the DNS and wanted to have 1.03.
I updated to fw 1.03 and in the process unfortunately resetted all settings and now I can't access the DNS from my Xbox anymore. I think I have the same settings as I did before the update but as it doesn't work I guess I must have missed something.
I have not made any "fun_plug":ing or updated anything but the firmware.
What do I need to set on the DNS for the access to work?

By the way... I read about the "Share not accesable after reboot" but it doesn't really do any good to touch anything in  the Network Access tab. I haven't tried the telnet smb restart option yet...

Thanks in advance...

Re: XBMC -> DNS323

I use the same setup with XBMC. First of all, can you connect to the DNS-323 with your computer? If so, it may be that you've set a password for the default SMB connection in XBMC and by resetting the unit the password no longer works.

Re: XBMC -> DNS323

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have no problems accessing the DNS from any om my computers but XBMC doesn't take the account information I give it. I can see the shares and get to the screen where it asks for user name and password but nothing works. I have tried several users belonging to different groups, or no group, but no luck so far.

I'll look in to the default SMB as you suggest.

Re: XBMC -> DNS323

make a share that is ALL users - then you dont have to have them - just make it read only

that is what i did for my XBMC

Re: XBMC -> DNS323

Problem solved, I made a permanent connection in my XBMC config and it worked right away.

Thanks!
