Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

HD_a1 Failure - need suggestions

Hello all,

I've had my DNS 323 up and running w/o issue since 4/2008. Just recently I noticed that the the primary drive was not showing up and I could not SSH to the device.

I am not using RAID, I write all of my data to HD_a1 and sync the data daily to HD_a2 using rysnc.

So, what are my options as far as trying to connect to the device and/or troubleshooting the issue with HD_a1?

I'm running Firmware 1.04 & fun_plug script dated 2008-04-13.

Is it safe for me to upgrade to the latest FW? I vaguely remember issues with data loss...

Re: HD_a1 Failure - need suggestions

I updated the FW to 1.09 without any issues. It's still showing one drive (HD_a2). Any suggestions for diagnosing the problem with HD_a1, I don't seem to have ssh/telnet access.

Re: HD_a1 Failure - need suggestions

fun_plug is located on the first volume, if the first volume is "missing" it won't be loaded - start by determining if the drive itself has failed - remove it from the dns-323, connect it to a PC and run the drive manufacturer's diagnostics on it.
