Permissions help needed.

Hi

Within my home I have several (windows) computers accessing the NAS with mapped network drives.  All computers are using the 'nobody' account.

My wife has to work away from home and accesses files on the NAS via SFTP - (using Expandrive to map it as a windows drive).  To access files via SFTP my wife logs in with the user account I created called 'Remote'.

On returning home my wife is unable to update any files that she has updated remotely because they are now owned by 'Remote' and the 'nobody' account can only open these files as 'Read Only'.  This is annoying - and makes the solution unworkable.

I would like to continue to access the files from local computers using the 'nobody' account - but amend the 'Remote' account so that the 'nobody' account has write access to the files it creates.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

K

Re: Permissions help needed.

I would use umask to solve this.

Re: Permissions help needed.

Thank you - that does sound like it may work...... I just don;t know where to put it.

From what I have read I need to add umask 000 to the end of the user account profile.  I just can't find where that is on the DNS-323.  Can somebody point me in the right direction (again!).

Many thanks

K
