Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.
You are not logged in.
Hi all,
I have a DNS-323 and a WDTV Live. They are both connected via a router (D-link DSL-2640B).
When I turn the WDTV on and try to connect to the DNS-323 it keeps trying to connect and after a while it fails to connect and show the message "This network share cannot be accessed".
Is there any port I need to forward on the router or any configuration I need to do on WDTV or on DNS-323?
I searched everywhere but found nothing.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Fred.

Assuming you are trying to connect to a samba share (that's the way I do it) then you need to create a share, create a user id and give it a password (all on the DNS323). I just use a simple userid (WD) and password (WDPASS) as security is not an issue for me.
On the WDTV Live, disable autologin. Navigate to Video->Network Shares->{{host name}}->{{share name}} then select the directory and/or filename.
When you select the host it will prompt for user id and password.
Once you have successfully navigated to the share once, you can exit out and go back to the Settings->Network Settings->Auto login to network shares and enable it. You won't be prompted to login again.
Other things to check:
- Ensure the WDTV live and DNS323 are both part of the same workgroup
- Ensure both are in the same subnet

Is this Samba share already on it? I'm a new user and I just installed fun_plug on DNS-323, nothing else.
They are on the same subnet and workgroup.
Thx.

FFP isn't required for this. It is built in. Network Shares.

It worked ![]()
As you said, it was just missing the user creation. Sometimes WDTV is not able to connect, but after a while it works....
Thank you very much FunFiler.
