Just got my new DNS-323 and wanted to say thanks for all the helpful info on this board. Got started and firmware upgraded to 1.03 without problems - at least so far! 

My experience with the UPNP server might also be of interest. I tried to use Simplecenter to play back music stored on the DNS-323 via UPNP. The files are M4A format (converted in foobar). These files were not visible in Simplecenter at all. Then I noticed this description of the UPNP "device" in Simplecenter:

"DNS-323
Supported media types:
LPCM, MP3, WMA, BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, MPEG2, MPG, WMV, M3U"

I confirmed this by moving an MP3 file into the UPNP directory - this was visible immediately. This might be useful to others trying to use UPNP so I thought I'd share it here. The iTunes server picks these M4A files up without a problem, as you might expect.

For now I am working around this by using foobar and iTunes, but it sure would be nice if this could be solved by a firmware upgrade. Thanks again for all the info here.
