Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Cannot install on DNS-321... nothing happens?

I put the two files (fun_plug and fun_plug.tgz) in the root of the /Volume_1 folder and nothing happens... I did a software reboot from the web admin console... it doesn untar it, and no ffp directory gets created. Obviously, telnet doesn't work either...

I'm using an OS X workstation to copy the files over to the DNS-321 using SMB as the file system transfer... I suppose I could try NFS if it's a transfer problem.. alternatively, I could untar the file into the file system...

Is it possible to install it manually using the OS X terminal?

Firmware on the DNS-321 is 1.03 and it has 2 2TB Western Digital 'Green' drives (model WD20EARS-00J2GB) in a mirror configuration.

Any hints?

Thanks!

Re: Cannot install on DNS-321... nothing happens?

Ahh I hate answering my own posts if I had just been a bit more perseverant.

I turned off my dumb 'follow the instructions' user brain and turned on my linux brain... a few things didn't sit right with me when I look at the file system in terminal...

I deleted the two resource fork files that apple dropped in there (._fun_plug and ._funplug.tgz)

I chmod'd the two files to 777, as they were set to rw, not rwx.

Restarted the DNS-321, and now everything is fine.

DUH!
