Serial Console for DNS323/231

Hello,

I've read the page specifying how to add a serial port to the DNS (http://dns323.kood.org/hardware:serial) and have one quick question. Need I a "level shifter" if using a USB-to-Serial adapter? The one I have on hand is a CP-US-03 but the vendor specs don't give much information...

http://www.cptechusa.com/cpt/images/Tec … -us-03.pdf

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Yes - you will need the level shifter - the USB-to-serial adapter will output RS232 voltage levels.

fordem, thanks for your reply...much appreciated!

I've ordered a Nokia CA-42 cable as this seems like the cheapest and least effort hack to get serial console access.

Cheers,

I have a level shifter I was offering to people for about the same price... It was in the Wiki.

But if you got your order already, I wouldn't worry about it.

Cheers,
