Samba problems

Hi,

I have samba problems.

Every once and a while smbd process disappears.
Usually, when I have a network drive connection from my laptop, the running processes are like this

1736 0        /usr/sbin/samba/smbd -D
1742 0        /usr/sbin/samba/smbd -D
1744 0        /usr/sbin/samba/nmbd -D

So few smbd and one nmbd processes running

But for some reason all smbd crashes leaving just nmbd running

1744 0        /usr/sbin/samba/nmbd -D

But NAS drive connection is lost!!

>smb restart  wont' help. The only way to recover samba is to restart the whole machine.

As a workaround I installed  ffp samba-3.4.6-1.tgz
It works if original samba is stopped with >smb stop
and start ffp samba it with >/ffp/start/samba.sh start ( I put these command  to a script which runs it on every reboot)

ps looks then

2036 0        /ffp/sbin/smbd -D
2046 0        /ffp/sbin/nmbd -D
2047 0        /ffp/sbin/smbd -D

All ok....for a while....

Somehow original samba kicks in... deleting ffp samba

leaving ps showing only one process running

/usr/sbin/samba/nmbd -D  ...and connection to networkdrive is lost.

Very annoying and I don't know how to fix this!

NAS 1.10
ffp 0.5
