Recovering data from dead DNS-323

My DNS-323 is no longer working.  I am trying to copy data out of the harddisk inside the enclosure.  It is not set up as RAID - just one hard disk data storage for me.  Can anyone give me some instructions on how to copy data out of the harddisk.  I have tried but no luck using a usb SATA HDD docking station because it is in linux and I am using a mac.  Much appreciate your assistance.
