Hmm, ist doch eigentlich garnicht so schwer.
Bei mir hat's seinerzeit sogar ohne chmod etc. funktioniert, sprich ich habe die 2 Dateien einfach per Samba rüberkopiert. ( zu dem Zeitpunkt hatte ich noch keine User / gruppen angelegt)

Wieviele Festplatten in welchem Modus hast du denn in deinem Gerät ?
Bei 2 Festplatten als Einzellaufwerk scheint es wichtig zu sein, dass die erste Festplatte in den rechten Slot gepackt wird, damit diese als Volume 1  unter /mnt/HD_a2 zugeordnet wird.

Dann die 2 Dateien direkt ins Volume kopieren und neustarten.
Nach dem ersten Neustart sollte das TAR Archiv verschwunden sein und die fun_plug Ordnerstruktur erstellt worden sein.

Wenn's nicht funktioniert hat bleiben eigentlich nur 2 Ursachen
a) Volume1 entspricht nicht /mnt/HD_a2 : leider habe ich keine Ahnung wie man das ohne Telnet Zugriff feststellen könnte :-(
    Das Problem entsteht aber eigentlich nur, wenn man wie oben erwähnt die erste Platte nicht im rechtem Slot hat. Ggf nochmal von vorne beginnen: Platte im PC Formatieren und als einzige HDD im NAS montieren)
b) Chmod passt nicht, wie gesagt, habe ich garnicht benötigt, da alle Files bei mir automatisch als 777 gemarkt waren.

What was the outcome to this? I have previously had telnet running on my box, but after reformatting and trying something different, i'll be buggered if i can get it going again. After putting the two file under the Volume_1 directory and rebooting (multiple times) nothing happens. I have tried what shadowandy suggests on his page also. Not sure what is going on. It doesn't seem to do anything. Doesn't create any new directories, doesn't do a single thing. Any ideas?

i've a similar problem like pitou11. i tried the way with funplug 0.3. uploaded the files via ftp, chmoded them with my ftpclient, tar was untared "correctly" and deleeted afterwards. now when i try to connect to my dns he asks for password. but  none of my passwords is accepted by the dns. i also created a new user called telnet with password telnet. but the terminal is still telling me login would be incorrect. i'm using the terminal of os x
