Changing port for smtp e-mail alerts

I am trying to set up e-mail alerts, but the test always fails.  I cannot send mail over port 25 with orange internet becuase they block the port to only orange smtp, I guess to prevent spam.  So I always have to use port 587.  I guess my dns is failing becuase I am not using 587, but i tried:

mail.mysmtpserver.com:587

but this does not work?  So how do I put a custom port for the e-mail alerts?  Without it I think I am stuffed sad

Stupid question #1: Why can't you use Orange's SMTP server? wink

hm, ok..  The firmware has some known problems about email alerting (sending at least) of which dlink knows about. I cant say at the moment what causes this trouble.

It seems that sending a mail, even from shell, doesnt work. Unfortunately there is no detailed info about it. FW 1.04 official release should be coming soon. I think this will be fixed then.

Re: Changing port for smtp e-mail alerts

I don't know how Orange works, but my ISP (Telia) doesn't require any login for the SMTP server as long as I'm connected to their net (ie I use a Telia IP address)

Re: Changing port for smtp e-mail alerts

I've tested the e-mail functionality for Account and Anonymous and both work.
Account needs SMTP AUTH support on SMTP, SSL is not supported (gmail needs that), I can send from my own Centos/BlueQuartz server without any problem e-mails.

When using Anonymous you drop the mail directly on the mailserver where the receiver is. Works also here ..
