"A Hard Drive Has Failed"

Last night I added a second hard drive to my machine and formatted as "Standard".  I immediately got an "A Hard Drive Has Failed" email.  Today I formatted as Raid 1 and got the same message.  Is this really a failure (they appear to be working fine) or is it a quirk of the formatting.  Is there anything I can do to investigate further?

Re: "A Hard Drive Has Failed"

The only time I've seen that "A Hard drive Has Failed" email has been when I've removed a drive.

I don't think you should be getting it after formatting a newly installed drive, although I believe you might be able to cause it be reformatting an existing drive.

Re: "A Hard Drive Has Failed"

I have received the message a couple of times when the smbd server crashed because of mldonkey filling up /dev/ram0
so the message can appear without actually experiencing a true hard drive failure...

Re: "A Hard Drive Has Failed"

Thanks for the replies.  What's the best way to check the disks?
