Yet another USB disk problem?

I have searched through this forum the USB disk issues, without success.

Doe anybody have the same problem to mount a  USB stick on my DNS-323? After carefully following the instructions in this forum and after trying the Fonz excelent fun_plugs I always come accross the same problem. The hardware seems to freeze and i have to reboot and even disconnect the cables in order to get it to work again.

I just bought the device and I immediately upgraded to version 1.0.3 and also installed the funplug-0.3

At the moment I one 250 Gb Samsung hard disk, but I would really like to be able to have an external USB disk attached to the system for backup purposes.

When I attach the USB disk my hardware just hangs without any messages. and I need to reboot it and turn off the power to get it to work again. As the machine hangs I will can't get any messages from the logs. (I don't have any serial interface)

Otherwise everything seems to work perfectly.

- Can it be an hardware issue with the USB intrface?
- Can it be some problems with the build in print drives, do I need to disable the printers?

Best regards
/Tomas

Re: Yet another USB disk problem?

Just to be sure. The disk you attach has its own power supply?

Re: Yet another USB disk problem?

Hello
I have now tried with a real USB hard disk (with external power)  and it works! even though it shows up at /dev/sdb1. The funny thing is that my first attempts was done on three different USB sticks. The results where the same, they all caused the system to hang! So I guess that the power consuption was too high on the USB sticks!

Thank you for helping me!
