Two 750 GB drives = 500 GB of Raid 1 storage?

I was under the impression that if I had two identical 750 GB drives and formatted them for RAID 1 with this device that I would have 750 GB of storage. Why is it 498 GB?

Re: Two 750 GB drives = 500 GB of Raid 1 storage?

What firmware are you using? If you are using the device out of the box(probably 1.00 firmware) then I would highly suggest going to 1.03, reformatting the drives as Raid 1 and you should see somewhere around 748g Raid 1. I believe in the original firmware large drives like 750 were not fully supported. I have tested 1tb drives and they work just fine on 1.03.
