There is not a single product on the planet, that does not have a firmware with some form of bugs or another. Nothing is perfect.
From Apple, to Netgear, to Sony, to Nokia...to MICROSOFT - EVERY PRODUCT HAS BUGS, which is why companies perform firmware releases!
At least D-Link is one of the (only) vendors to actually fix bugs.

Does anyone have the changelog and the list of fixed/remaining bugs ?

But most companies wouldn't take a year to fix a simple problem like HDD standby not working. There have been numerous complaints from posters wihin this thread complaining that the HDD power down does not work. Dlink keeps telling them it will be fixed in the "next release" but when the new realease is available, it still doesn't fix it.

Your statement is absolutely correct!

A product which doesn´t fulfilled the most important characteristics is in a development phase and may not be sold from a company to end customers!

Then you should ask yourself and give us please an answer, why D-Link does not fixed the immportant errors in the DNS-313 after approximately 10 months.
And also you should have an answer why are hundreds of forums full of threads from frustrated and disappointed customers!

'A product which doesn´t fulfilled the most important characteristics is in a development phase and may not be sold from a company to end customers!'
Completely incorrect. I'll say it again. All electronic products have bugs, as does computer software. Microsoft has been selling windows XP since 2001 and is still coming out with service packs to fix 'bugs'. I have a Nokia N73 that is constantly having its firmware upgraded. Are you telling me that any product that has bugs is automatically 'not fit' for sale? That would rule out 99% of products on the market.
'Then you should ask yourself and give us please an answer, why D-Link does not fixed the immportant errors in the DNS-313 after approximately 10 months.'
It has fixed some important errors. Sure not all of them, but what you class as 'important' is not necessarily what others may class as important. 1.01 firmware is out, and this obviously has fixed some bugs, many of which some may have considered important. Sure not all, but many.
'And also you should have an answer why are hundreds of forums full of threads from frustrated and disappointed customers!'
Well so does every other manufacturer. Go have a look at the number of complaints with Netgear, Buffalo, Linksys, products... You telling me D-Link is the only manufacturer that has frustrated and disappointed customers?
I just don't see how the points you raised are different to any other company out there. I'll say it again, that even if it takes 10 months to fix something, there are other companies out there who NEVER update their firmware...
This was my original point.

No, why should i? This board range calls itself " DNS-313 General Discussion" and nothing else about other manufacturer and their products!

Sorry to break in to this discussion, but it has gotten totally off the point. The real question was by freddygital in response to Tilly's statement:
freddygital wrote:

If there is a version 1.02b03, can someone please give us a link to it? I desperately want to try it to resolve the issues I'm having!
In response to the whole discussion above, everybody knows that all vendors have bugs. I acknowledge this completely. However, I, like Tilly and JC, am sick of vendors who refuse to acknowledge bugs and issue a fix for them. I walked away from my Netgear SC101 because of a constant history of this (in fairness to Netgear, I never had an issue with their other products; but for 4 years I've consumed literally days in trying to coax the SC101 to work over various releases, with fixes slow off the block. It broke again with Vista SP1; still no fix issued. So I thought I'd try a D-Link). Some companies find bugs, acknowledge them, but don't fix them until the next release of software, which you have to re-buy (shall I mention Adobe Encore 1.01, which totally ruined days of work on projects... Answer from Adobe? Not "we'll release v1.02 to fix this issue", but "buy the upgrade to v1.5. It fixes it"!) Is there actually anyone working in these troubleshooting departments, or do they leave you for dead while they work on their new products?
And D-Link Australia doesn't even know of the existence of firmware v1.01 for the DNS-313! You visit their site, and it says "No firmware available". So the poor suckers who buy it still can't back up with the product as bought using the software given; no fixes given, no bugs acknowledged.
And regarding the standby bug, it's ironic that the DNS-313 advertises the standby feature on the box: "Power Management Feature: Save power! Save your hard disk!"
I am just new with D-Link, so I'm hoping for a better experience with them...
Anyway, back to the issue: where to find this version 1.02b03 ????

the password is required:
ftp://dlinkTEMP:dlink@194.117.170.198
what's that: DNS-313_drv_RevAll_Vista_20080509.zip? A driver for Vista?

Hi JC,
there you will find the old beta build 01v2 from the version.1.02. It is this one: 1.02b01v2 and not the version 1.02b03 (build 03).

Maybe nowhere in the moment because this version 1.02b03 is in testphase and not released for public yet.
Here are some test results with the version 1.02b03v2:
a) the power management is working now correct
b) the UPnP server is is working correct
c) there is a new bug in the email alert feature, because special character like a @ will not accept in the email account name.
Maybe D-Link will fixed this bug first and will then release a new build of the version 1.02.

As I understand this is a member site where you have to pay to be able to download. At least for me there is a "red light" indicating that I am not able to download. Has someone got an alternative location for this file where it can be downloaded?
Offline
No it isn't .. just a little search...
ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dns/dns-313/driver_software/
I have upgraded 2 days ago.. finally a quiet and not power consuming solution, no more NTFS filesystem errors and it works..

Your are wrong because a registration is there free of charge. You only have to be able to know how to get registered. Maybe thats your problem!

1.02 is now installed and really fix the most important issues regarding power modes, fan control and harddisk shutdown. Now the product starts to really work as a NAS.
However, it still does not work with my Argon iNet Internet Radio. In the release notes it is written that it works with PS3, but no comment about DLNA support. I probably have to try Mediatomb this time...
