When connecting my Dns 313 from another pc using ftp, and downloading files from it, I can't get more than 8.5 kbs transfer rate. Uploading to it is ok - ok transfer rate. Anyone know how to fix it? I have a SMC 7908VoWBRB router (forwarded port 21 )

I have the same problem... so far I couldn't find the reason. I suspected my IP provider limits the bandwidth, but maybe it's the DNS?
If anyone has an answer, I'm interested too

Don't you have an asynchronous line? The rate you are downloading from the DNS depends on your actual *upload* rate of you internet connection. This might be an issue.

ifconfig egiga0 mtu 1440
after logging in with telnet and the user root to the dns 313 and try again.
This should help. 1440 is not the best value, you should lookup the correct value for your internet provider, but it should work for most providers today.
