Re: the last Transmission and clutch on DNS313?

I Follow the installation of transmission 1.42 explain for DNS323 and make some change like we must do for dns313, but it don't work, when I restart Transmission it can't read "Settings.json" who's located in /mnt/HD_a4/transmission-daemon" and try to connect to default parameters.

Can someone Help me please, I'm a real newbie for that

Is it possible to explain step by step please?

Thx

Re: the last Transmission and clutch on DNS313?

So what it is exactly saying when typing: /ffp/start/transmission.sh start or restart? Could u paste it.

With DNS-313 the transmission-daemon path should be in /mnt/HD_a2/

Re: the last Transmission and clutch on DNS313?

you have to mixed a bit of Shadowandy tutorial and the Transmission 1.42

At the end the DNS-313 the transmission-daemon path should be in /mnt/HD_a4/.transmission-daemon

I got it running but download appears to be inconsistent.

Re: the last Transmission and clutch on DNS313?

I am assuming fun_plug is already installed and you know where to get the packages.
What I did:

Note the home is pointed to HD_a4 instead of HD_a2

# export TRANSMISSION_HOME=/mnt/HD_a4/.transmission
# export CLUTCH_HOME=/ffp/share/transmission/web

Note: you can leave the packages in HD_a2 and run them from there.

# funpkg -r Transmission-1.22-ffp0.5.tgz   (This will remove the old version, but keep all config files intact)
# funpkg -i curl-7.18.1.tgz                (only if you don't have it installed already)
# funpkg -i Transmission-1.42-1.tgz
# wget http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fun-plug/0. … 9.29-7.tgz
# funpkg -i uclibc-0.9.29-7.tgz

Edit /ffp/start/transmission.sh to point to the correct path.

TRANSMISSION_HOME=/mnt/HD_a4/.transmission-daemon

Then start transmission

# sh /ffp/start/transmission.sh start
# chmod a+x /ffp/start/transmission.sh

Reboot DNS-313 using Web interface. It seems that settings.json file will not be created unless you reboot

After reboot transmission will start automatically, you have to stop it first before changing settings.json. Else all changes will be lost.

# sh /ffp/start/transmission.sh stop

Add the IP address you want to access the web GUI in the settings.json white list entry. In my case:

"rpc-whitelist": "127.0.0.1,192.168.0.*",

You can also make any changes you like to the files. But note that settings will not be saved if you are editing while transmission is running.
Restart transmission, although I usually reboot
Enjoy

Re: the last Transmission and clutch on DNS313?

Great great Thx Sigh

You point finger where I do a mistake all time I forget to stop Transmission before changing settings.json :p
I saw too there's a new line in Transmission 1.34 setttings.json so I will copy my Transmission.sh and Settings.json from 1.34 to 1.42 Think this will be ok.

Thx a lot for all your help, think now I can update to upper version next time without help smile

EDIT : THX all work perfect, I only have a little problem, I can't use my dyndns adress to log on transmission, only can use direct IP. If using DNS, transmission reject connexion.

EDIT II : Resolving my Dyndns problem, opening all IP adress and activate authentification for security.

Re: the last Transmission and clutch on DNS313?

Hi, i am a new (french) owner of a DNS-313 with a 1 Go HDD inside

I just bought it because i knew we can install a torrent client inside

I am not really used to work on linux things... but i had a mac, and i work with a mac on OSx.3.9 (i never type command lines on it..)

So after some readings, i installed fun plug according to this page :
http://dns323.kood.org/forum/t2008-HOWT … em%29.html

Then, i read this one (how to install transmission on DNS-323):
http://dns323.kood.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2719

Using Putty, on my Windows Vista PC,
And after the first few lines, i installed ucLibc
using theses commands :

1. telnet to the device
2. cd /mnt/HD_a4
3. mkdir packages
4. cd packages
5. rsync -av inreto.de::dns323/fun-plug/0.5/packages/uclibc-0.9.29-7.tgz

then to install this package :
6. funpkg -i uclibc-0.9.29-7.tgz

So after reboot, it seems ok !
using :
ls -al /ffp/lib/

i can see :
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           19 Apr  1 08:29 ld-uClibc.so.0 -> ld-uClibc-0.9.29.so
so i figured out it is installed !

OK that's a good start i think

Then, i continued to read the "how to install transmission on DNS-323" topic
(http://dns323.kood.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2719)

And an other webpage :
http://www.shadowandy.net/2009/01/trans … #more-2636
(which is really interresting by the way)

But i am wondering what about to modify from the folder HD_a2 and HD_a4
This topic does not really help me (sorry i don't understand all, especially what sigh has written)

So finally i do not really know what to do after having installed UcLibc

Can someone help me by giving me some clues ?

And what about the partitioning system file Ext2 vs HTFS i have read about ?

My final question is :
Do you prefer transmission or MlDonkey ? Which one is the best to install on a DNS-313

Thanks for answeing my questions

EDIT I :

I just downloaded curl and transmission to :
/mnt/HD_a4/packages/

using :
ls -al /mnt/HD_a4/pacKages/
wget http://kylek.is-a-geek.org:31337/files/curl-7.18.1.tgz
wget http://kylek.is-a-geek.org:31337/files/ … n-1.51.tgz

I am waiting for further instructions ^^

Thanks

Re: the last Transmission and clutch on DNS313?

Hi!
I'm having problems downloading files bigger than 300Mb. It stops arround 300Mb but is still downloading (in the web interface i can see the speed).

With files with sizes lower than 300Mb everithing works like a charm and the speed is very good with some torrents!!

Does anyone have the same problem or know how to fix it?
