RE-Installing NAS from the beginning fails

Hi All,

My problem is around installing a new firmware to my DNS-313. My specs are below:

OS: Windows XP
NAS: DNS-313
Firmware to be used: 103b04_v2.v2
HDD: Samsung 360Gb Sata2 (It is in the compatible list (I don't know the exact type))
Router: TP-LINK WR340G

The problem...I have been using this NAS with the original firmware just fine till today, when I decided to upgrade the firmware. Seems to be a wrong decision, however I consider myself a curious guy, so I don't give up trying to get this stuff work. So what I have done is the following I saved all my stuffs and decided to do a clean install, so I connected the HDD to my PC and used the XP's drive manager to first format the entire HDD to NTFS and then get rid of all partitions. Well after doing that I connected this to my LAN. Then I used the new firmware's DCC (Click&Connect) to setup the NAS...

Of course after starting the NAS I did the reset as well so before starting with DCC I see the green light for HDD and the blue for network...meaning this is ready to go. Then comes the installing....

I decided to do a new hardware install as I have cleaned the HDD...The process starts just fine...So the linux goes into the HDD, then clicking next, then comes the formatting...successful...clicking next, then comes the REBOOT. Well I see that the status bar goes up until approx 80-90% then the process stops....It just hangs, then nothing happens...circa 5 mins later the HDD turns itself down...then the only thing remaining is the Blue light for HDD and nothing for network...

The green light went of during reboot process and turned into blue....and the network light went off here as well.

I could do nothing more so I shut down the NAS manually pushing the DLink button. Ok...Let's try it again....Starting the NAS I see the blue light for HDD and nothing for network...Great...nothing is working...of course no IP was addressed yet so I can not ping anything. I see no sign coming out from NAS into the router.

THe router has DHCP server setup...FYI this router works with the 192.168.1.100-199 ip range... so there is no option for the default ip 192.168.0.32 for setting up for NAS. So basically I have NAS with incomplete setup, and currently I can't use it to anything...

FYI...before this firmware upgrade I was able to use it for everything I want...mainly for FTP. So this could work before...and its setup process could run successfully...so this time I don't understand what went wrong. If you could help me out that would be great...

So I have tried the reset option, formatting, getting rid of partitions....DHCP server is on, I have tried the NEW hardware and the REPAIR install option in the setup process....both are failing in the last step (REBOOT) at the same point (in the end). There is nothing more I can think of now...

So after the unsuccessful reboot, manual shutdown, and manual restart, I have a NAS which sends no sign towards the router...so I have to reset it again and again to just be able to start the install...

I have been reading all posts referring the same issue however this has not been sorted out yet as I can see. So for this reason I am trying to be as much helpful as I can be to finally write down every necessary steps in one place for future reference.

Please advise, thank you!
