Power management problem

Hi, i have a DNS-313 Nas with Samsung hd103uj (1 TB) Hard disk inside.
The Nas i connected to my home network with my Netgear D834GT router modem.
My OS is Windows Xp SP3.

Unfortunately, i cannot solve an annoying power management issue.
Updating new firmwares did not work (yesterday i flashed the 1.04).

The strange thing is that, if i use the Nas only for reading music and videos, it tunrs off after the number of minutes i set in the control panel (i.e. 5)
Instead, if i write something on it (i.e. copy some files), it keeps on spinning for hours without powering off.

I contacted the Dlink support, but they quickly solved the issue saying that the HD103UJ is not "officially supported"...

Have someone of you had the same problem (with the same or different hard disk?)

What can i do?

Any hint would be welcome

Sincerely
Dennis10

Re: Power management problem

Additional info...

Yesterday i replaced the Samsung HD103uj disk with a spare Samsung SP2504C (250 gb) and power management worked fine (even after copying files)

I do believe that power management issue is specific to Samsung HD103UJ...

Can anyone confirm that?

By the way, I need more space on my Nas than 250 gb, and so i would like to use the 1tb disk, but i don't want it spin for days...

Is it possible to send a script (using for example using gpedit.msc / windows settings) before shutting down Windows in order to restart the DNS-313?

In this way Power Management would work because the Nas hangs only if i write something on the disk  and leave it on without restarting it...

Sincerely
