DSM-G600, DNS-3xx and NSA-220 Hack Forum

Hi guys,

I just bought a DNS-313 for the purpose of trying to recover data on a hard drive (Seagate Barracude 7200 250Gb). I have installed the HDD into the NAS, and then connected via ethernet to my router. It doesn't come up in the list of LAN clients, so can assume it isn't getting an IP address. I've tried narrowing the DHCP range to 19.168.0.2>10 and powercycling both appliances with no luck.

Also tried plugging the NAS directly into my second ethernet port in my Mac Pro - there is get's a self assigned IP address of 169.*.*.* (suggesting there's an error there).

Can anyone provide any assistance? Am I wrong in assuming that I can use a HDD already with data on it using this NAS... is it designer for formatted HDD?
