I had a DNS-313 with WD Caviar SE-16 drive (500 GB). Worked fine. Powered down because of holiday, when returning home the light for the drive went GREEN (too low memory...).
Dlink suggested new bay. I've got it. But this happens:
1) Blue light for power and network, green for drive
2) Click 'n'connect cannot reinstall drive (reports "Can't open image file")
3) Tried to use USB, my PC finds new hardware but the drive does not appear in Windows Explorer
4) Tried to install drive in my Dell (stationary), but BIOS reports "Unknown".
Q:
IS there a way to backup my files? (Have backup, but it's two months old...)
How to fix the problem?
Thx!!!

You can remove your HDD from the NAS and connect it to your PC via SATA or SATA-USB converter (doc station, external box, cable etc). And then you can use one of programs to access ext2 partition from Windows. E.g. Total Commander has a plugin for it.
