Trying to upgrade firmware on my NAS from 2.00 to 3.12
Following the guide included in the firmware package I am stuck on rebooting the NAS with the usb-stick attached.
When I reboot the NAS, sys-light starts to blink and continue so for 30+ minutes. The guide says "SYS LED will be blinking orange while firmware upgrading" but lights keep blinking green.
What I have done:
formated stick with fat32
created an external drive with stick
placed the files in the root of the stick (nsa220_fw, nsa220_check_file, usb_key_func.sh in USB flash)
Disconnect network and power.
Connect power and power on routher with stick attached.
Any ideas what is wrong?

Do you hear anything? (Beeps). The usb_key_func.sh has a few sound codes to express error situations. (Beats me why 'they' don't simply write a logfile to the stick.)

No sounds
I have read in this forum (http://dns323.kood.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4333) that the size of the usb matters. So what does one do, when the smallest usbstik I have 2gb?

I don't think size is a problem. The box supports fat32.
Where did you get your update from? I looked at ftp://ftp.zyxel.com, and the 3.12 update there is only for 2.30 and above. There is a 3.22 update which supports all previous firmware versions (that one is 60MB, it actually contains 3 different update strategies for 3 types of previous firmwares).

Solved!
Had to update from 2.00 ->2.20->3.12->3.20
So had to use every firmware update before the next!
