UPnP AV Server 'no videos'

Recently got my DNS-320 (fw2.0) and I'm trying to stream videos to my WDTV & Xbox 360, but it always shows no videos. I enabled the server and added a folder (media) in the root directory (volume_1). Added a test file and refresh the server. My Xbox and WDTV both recognize the DNS as a media server, but always show empty or no files/folders

Only the WDTV can access the files thru the Network Shares, but my Xbox doesn't have that option. I've read others on the forums here state it works, but thats older hardware and firmware. Is the an actual solution or is this thing bound for craigslist?

BTW, I have two 2TB Hitachi drives in in running RAID1 hooked up to DD-WRT gigabit network.

Re: UPnP AV Server 'no videos'

Hi there,

What kind of Videoformat did you use? I managed to streame .avi files but no .mkv or something like that.

So please tell us your test-scenario

Re: UPnP AV Server 'no videos'

I had problems with the built in UPnP server and my xbox 360. The main problem was that the xbox wouldn't play nearly any of my videos which it had no problem playing off a USB hard drive. Also I got the same problem you had with the empty folders.

I installed twonky mediaserver after installing fun_plug and it works with the xbox perfectly (I've read there are one or two bugs with it but nothing major and I haven't come across them yet). I'm currently still on the trial version so will need to pay €15 when my 30 days are up, but it's well worth it considering the main reason I bought the DNS 320 was to stream videos to my xbox and it's not capable of doing that out of the box.
