FTP Server

Has anyone else had problems using the built in FTP Server? I've set it up using the web tool, done the port forwarding, opened the ports in my firewall. That doesn't matter anyway as I can't even login from within my own network using the internal IP address of the box.

If I try in Firefox it asks for the username/password but the just times out. The only other info I've got is if I try to connect via FTP using WinSCP I'll get this message:

Timeout detected.
Connection failed.
--------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS] ----------
You are user number 1 of 2 allowed.
Local time is now 17:52. Server port: 1025.
You will be disconnected after 10 minutes of inactivity.

So it connects, but then times out? I'm not really sure what's going on here, does the pre installed FTP server work after fun_plug has been installed?

Re: FTP Server

Hi,

I had problems with the FTP server too, and found the only reliable configuration was to leave it on port 21.  Although I was eventually able to connect to it internally on a different port, I was unable to connect to it externally despite configuring port forwarding and even trying the device in the DMZ.  I settled in the end with leaving it listening on port 21 and forwarding external port 1600 to internal port 21.  This appears to work ok with GUI based FTP programs, WinSCP, CoreFTPLE, but still has intermittent problems with the DOS FTP command in WindowsXP.

I have yet to try fun_plug so can't comment on your second question - sorry
