It's weird because the folders were created in the "incomplete" directory. Even the one that was there while it was unpacking and validating was there, but showed up as empty. After it was dome unpacking, the folder was deleted and the download moved to the correct directory. Everything is working as it should, but it is as if the files are invisible while they are unpacking and when they fail? You would think that is SAB is making the folders and then deleting them in THAT directory, then that is where the files would be. But the folders say 0bytes and show as empty.
I do have THIS in the SAB log?

This seems like a right issue. As root
#chmod -r 777 /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Downloads

I am guessing this is due mostly to the poor processing power of the unit. My downloads are half as slow as they were on my PC and extraction takes 5 times as long! lol
I am assuming that when there are too many repairs, the unit will just fail out. It can't be a rights issue as every other download has worked perfectly. This one was big and needed repair.
All and all, it is still nice to have this moved off my PC and the extra time balances itself out. And this was a comparatively cheap unit!
I didn't expect it to be perfect.

Terrabye and danfozzy I got everything setup and working but I noticed that you are now using absolute paths for downloads. I'm curious, what are you using to serve your videos. Is it the built in mediatomb of the nas or are you using something else. I've got minidlna setup but I can't see any of my shows when viewed from my ps3 or blu-ray player. All of my stuff is inside the squeeze directory and I'm guessing that that is at least part of the problem. I'm wondering where should I situate my downloaded videos so that they can be seen on the network? Thanks.

I understood it as you couldn't see the incompletes. Whatever the case this NAS has far and away exceeded my expectations.

Create a folder through the Dlink Web UI. Make sure you allow everyone rights. It should now be visible on Debain but may not have the correct rights.
So the path in Debian would be
/mnt/HD/HD_a2/new_folder
Now SSH as root to correct rights
#chmod 777 -r /mnt/HD/HD_a2/new_folder
#exit
Go to SABnzbd and change the absolute paths to
/mnt/HD/HD_a2/new_folder/completes
/mnt/HD/HD_a2/new_folder/incompletes

So CP grabs movies and then puts them in the right folder for SAB to grab and SAB grabs them just fine, then when CP goes to rename them, it makes a folder in the proper directory, gets an ifo, tbn and so on, but then just deletes the movie! Out of three movies I grabbed so far (on the new set-up) it deleted two of them (both /mkv) and kept one (an .avi)
It made the folder and grabbed the proper files for the other two (mkv), but deleted the movies. But the .avi only moved the movie, but didn't create any of the other files for it!
The other two movies are just gone!
Doesn't look like this is going to work for me

It can't be n issue with privileges because it made the folder and the other files right?
Plus the .avi file worked (although no extra info with it)... even weirder.
And the log said it moved the movie to the directory. But nothing is there. for two movies! I have not got the slightest at this point!

SSH as newuser and see if you see anything in /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Movies/
If you see nothing than SSH with root.
BTW, I am no expert in Debian, SABnzbd, Sickbeard or CouchPotato, but google is a good friend of mine

Trust me, I am Googling and on other boards. lol
I fear this may be a simple hardware issue so I am seeing if anybody can confirm the same problem. I am stumped at this point. Makes no sense.

I have the same hardware...and if I have it working than you should too
There has got to be some little detail we are missing

Do you download (big files), the only pattern I can see is that files less than 5g write to the drive and over 5g disappear.

I can see the files under both "newuser" and "root".
I can't imagine permissions is the issue... like I said, some files get there and some disappear. If it were a permissions or directory error (or just about anything) you would think that none of the files would get there right?
Seems like the software is messing up!

Ok... I think I know the problem. Looks like a CP problem:

So do you not have the same version of CP I have? Or do you just not download that bog of files?
Any idea on how to fix this?

Any ideas?

I using the most current version (git-4e183c6). If you install via git than you should have the most current version as well.
I download files up to 12 GB.
Try SSH as root
#apt-get update
#apt-get upgrade
You have to have this repo
deb http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main contrib non-free

Try stopping and starting SABnzbd from SSH as newuser and see what happens
$su
#service sabnzbd stop
#exit
$python SABnzbd/SABnzbd.py -d -f .sabnzbd/sabnzbd.ini -s your.nas.ip:8080
Otherwise, check on SABnzbd forums or google

Well I have the same version of CP as you. But I suffer from the exact same problem described on the CP help page, so it looks like it is a known issue. The people on the page said is was kind of random and both files missing from my CP happened to be 6.4g (coincidence?).
For now I just unchecked the "cleanup" tab in CP as somebody said this fixes the problem.
I ran both apt-get in your message (not really sure what that did, but you say do, and I do! lol) and I am guessing as they ran and downloaded stuff that this means I do have the repo you mentioned? Or do I still need to do something with that?

It just updates your Debian (Squeeze) installation to the most current.

lol... that command only made the folder disappear! I tried it on another folder and that one disappeared too! I just can't win!
When I look at the drive through the dlink software, I see the movie folder, but it is now invisible to my PC after I chmod it! Now even mysql says the folder does not exist! I should have just quit while I was ahead! lol
The movies still play from the XBMC, the folder just does not show up under explorer anymore and mysql can't see it.

My mistake "-r" should have been "-R"
SSH as root
#chmod 777 -R /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Movies

All folders, subfolders and files will have full rights. This should fix the problem.
