Disconnecting USB device restarts Samba?...

Hi,

I moved from a DNS-323 to a DNS-325 and am very happy with it.

However, I have a small disturbing annoyance.
I use the samba server from optware (so "ps" displays "/opt/sbin/[ns]mbd -D").
I also use a scanner, directly connected to the 325's USB port, that I use through saned.

The strange thing is that when I power down the scanner, the systems restart the Samba server so that the original system's samba binaries are running again; optware "/opt/sbin/[ns]mbd" processes are killed, ps displays only "[ns]mbd -D", and my network drives on client computers are disconnected.

I have no idea about what can link the USB disconnect and the system's Samba restart, and I would like to disable this.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!
