Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

i can only access ftp through my local network. Remote access is giving me problems. I have read all over the forums and seem to still be missing something. All i am interested in is ftp not vpn. my router is a dir-655. I also use an actiontec modem dsl. I am obviously entering the default gateway wrong or something like that. does anything on the modem need to be set up? hope that is enough info.

Have you punched a hole in your firewall, or in plainer English set your modem/router to forward port 21 to the ip address of your dns323? If not, your router firewall is probably blocking the connection - so when trying to remotely connect you are never even getting as far as the nas. You may need to open port 20 as well, but it is likely that your modem already has a setting for ftp, you just need to activate it. You are aware of the security risks of opening a port and exposing your nas ftp server I assume? If not, search this forum as ftp is insecure. This also assumes that the nas has a static ip.
