Hi again,
I am trying to correctly configure the bittorent port on mldonkey via the web_interface and get the following error message:
Porttest finished 11m 5s ago
Port test failure, Can't connecto to (my external_IP_address) on 6882
I previously saved the following MLdonkey command-line:
> set allowed_ips "127.0.0.1 255.255.255.255"
My goal is to be able to remotely control bittorent downloads. Launching Sancho from home also gives me the following error:
"Another instance might already be running!..." Pressing Yes or No just makes the application quit.
Do I have to allow for more IP addresses with the "set allowed_ips command"? Does my home router have to be configured to allow for telnet port forwarding? For now it only has the FTP port forwarding enabled.
Thanks.

There are two different things here:
1. The error message you are getting is a connection error to the torrent servers. To fix that you need to open port 6882 + some on your router, or alternatively the range you like + configure MLdonkey likewise wia BT port settings.
2. In order to manage the client you need port 4080. Your allowed IP range seems right, so again by opening port 4080 on your router you can gain access to the client on your DNS323.
I'm a newbie to protocols so take this with a grain of salt ;-)

Ok. Sancho seems to be working (locally) now using port 4080 with the web browser and 4001 with Sancho.
Remotely (using an isp outside home), i can telnet to mldonkey but i'm still stuck whilst trying to connect with Sancho or by web-browser. I previously enabled telnet port forwarding in my router to my DNS-323.
What's missing? I'm not sure what you meant by "need to open port 6882 + some on your router"
Thanks again.

Enable port forwarding on your router for 6881 - 6999 to get the port test running.
Enable port forwarding on your router for 4080 (MLD web) and 4000 (MLD telnet) and 4001(for MLdonkey and Sancho).
Seems you port 4000 is already forwarded (telnet to mldonkey works), you just need port 4080 and 4001 opened.

Excellent. It's now functional.
Thanks.

Forwarding port 6882 tcp is enough for complete successfully the mldonkey port test (don't know if the full range gives some advantages during download).
The full list of ports to be forwared can be obtained seaching for "port" in these config files: donkey.ini,bittorrent.ini, downloads.ini.

How do I do port forwarding for mldonkey? Did the port test but failed, what ip do i set for client_ip? Auto or set to my dns-323 ip? I did port forwarding to the torrent port I set in mldonkey in my router configuration. Pls kindly advise. Downloads is not moving .
