Default Samba encoding in 1.04 FW?

Is there any way to change default encoding to UTF8 for samba 3.0 and make this change permanent?
I use funplug and start samba with my own config files, but sometimes samba gets restarted with default encoding which is not UTF8?

regards
JK

I do not run 1.04 yet but previous versions you had to configure the locale with the EasySearch application.
Could not be done through the web interface.

there is an option in EasySearch called "Language", I have "Western European" as a default. Other options are some Chinese or Japanese. No UTF8...

Re: Default Samba encoding in 1.04 FW?

hah finally have an answer in d-link FAQ, may be useful for others:
"If you are using firmware 1.04, by default the DNS-323 will support Unicode which is an industry standard allowing computers to consistently represent and manipulate text expressed in most of the world's writing formats. However, if you were using an earlier version of firmware (1.03 or earlier) and have just upgraded to 1.04, Unicode will not be supported until you have reformatted the hard drives in your DNS-323."

Re: Default Samba encoding in 1.04 FW?

After upgrading the firmware to version 1.04 and formatting the drive, Unicode support is automatically enabled. When you use the Easy Search Utility afterwards and click on "Language" you get the message "Unicode language support is already enabled on this device". The options Japanese, Western European, etc. are no longer listed, probably because they are not needed anymore.
