Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi,
Is there a guide for absolute dummies on setting up a fun_plug?
I am a simple windows user with zero knowledge of linux or programming (tied to windows for work reasons, though would like to change one day...). I want to set up my dns (firmware 1.3, 2 disks on standard configuration) to do things that people are talking about on this forum - especially running torrents on it (instead of utorrent on my laptop), and setting it to backup from one drive to another without going through the pc.
I see that I need a fun_plug to set these up, but even the wiki page seemed to assume knowledge I don't have ("telnet", "putty" “Unix format (LF)”, "chmodded to 777" etc). Is there an explanation somewhere for people such as myself who need everything explained from scratch?
Thanks!

Check out http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fun-plug/0.3/
Just make sure you don't use WinZIP to unpack, but rather something like WinRAR

Sambalgado, im much the same as you, with ZERO 'nix knowledge. I found the mldonkey 'real_simple' file worked a treat for me. downloaded to the dns, and extracted (using windows xp/vista built in extraction tool) to the root directory of hd1. rebooted, then went to " http://<insert ip>:4080 " to admin the thing.. just now working on getting it to d/l from closed trackers, that require a passkey of sorts. so simple, it was literally a 5 min job.
