Firstly, I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far.
I've been working through the debian howto, but the last couple of steps don't do what I'm trying to achieve.
If I'm reading it correctly, the howto creates an initrd image and installs this on mtdblock3, but this eventually chroots to a root filesystem on one of the installed hard drives. What I'd like to do is keep both the initrd image and the file system on mtdblock3, so the whole system will boot without any external hard drives (which looks like how the D-Link delivered system does it?).
I've got the filesystem I need, and the contents of the initrd image (in /initrd), but I'm not sure how to put this all together into a single image I can dd back to /dev/mtdblock3. Also, when the delivered firmware loads, it appears to copy the filesystem into a ram drive (/dev/ram0), so I guess I'll need to do this too.
If anyone has done this I'd be really grateful for any help getting these last couple of things working.
Thanks,
Barney
