I just stuck 2 brand new 1TB hard drives in my DNS-323. I want to use RAID 1. When I first powered on the DNS, I chose RAID 1 and it asked me to enter available space or something, so I entered the max of 998. It then formatted and I restarted the DNS. My question is, why do I only see one 900+GB drive in My Computer, and only one 900+GB drive via the DNS Control Panel (see attached screen shot)? Shouldn't I have been prompted to format 2 drives, and thus see 2 separate drives?

RAID1 means one drive is a mirror image of the other, which provides better availability than a single drive solution. However, since the drives are mirroring each other , overall you will see only one drive.
In other words, RAID1 to the outside world looks like one drive with half of the total physical capacity. Any client (such as your PC) logically doesn't even know it's two drives behind the scene.
If you want 2TB of file storage, you need to use Standard, RAID0, or JBOD. Only Standard will let you see two drives; you will still see one with the other two options, but your total hard drive capacity will be 2TB.

Ok, RAID1 is what I want then - I just expected to see both drives. Thanks.

Patrick, I know you have setup Raid 1 already. As someone who did the same thing as you did when I first got my DNS-323, thought I would at least give you something to consider. After doing some extensive research, I killed Raid 1 and went to standard. It's important enough that I thought to share it:
