Alternative torrent clients

Hi,

As I seem unable to get MLD working on my 323, I was wondering if anyone has investigated other torrent clients that will run headless on these sorts of boxs...?
I know that ctorrent will work but it is rather unfriendly in terms having to add torrents via the cli. Are there other alternatives? Would for instance Deluge or TorrentFlux work (I understand that TFlux may be too heavy)...?

Also D-Link are obviously planning to add this functionality to the box anyway, given the inclusion of torrent download facilities in the recent 1.04 beta... Did anyone get a chance to play with it? What client was it based on?

All responses gratefully received smile

Chris

Re: Alternative torrent clients

You can see the UI for the downloader (in 1.04) taken by richneo here. Perhaps you can try compiling Deluge or TorrentFlux to try if will work on DNS-323 then that would be great. smile

Re: Alternative torrent clients

The options seem way too limited for any real use. I had MLD working before I lost all my data plugging in a second hardware. Afterwards the PSU died so now I'm waiting for a replacement.

Using Sancho with MLD seemed pretty cool not having to go through the DLink webinterface smile

Re: Alternative torrent clients

I have FW 1.04 B21 installed - I see the page for the downloader, but the buttons are disabled (if you look at the javascript in the HTML page, the buttons are initially disabled)... what gives? There's a spurious
var flag='0'; in function check_Downloader()
Notice that var flag=1; in the first line of the Javascript!

I've used Firefox to enable the form elements (buttons), so they're clickable, but once I click on them, the dialog boxes are cleared and nothing happens.

Re: Alternative torrent clients

KRH...

Thanks for the info - I should've read the docs more closely.

However, I'm trying to click the "Downloader button", but it's not working.

I get a pop-up.. "Loading..." etc. which seems normal (it's trying to load the BT code) And then I get another info pop-up "Please check hard drives" and that's it.

I've tried restarting the DNS-323 and it's still not working.

I'm running Easy Search 3.7.0.0_0608 (came in the zip package), running in RAID1 and "leftovers" with 750 GB Barracuda 7200.10 drives.

Re: Alternative torrent clients

someone should try getting deluge to work on dns323. Version 0.6 is now quite feature full and it's headless like mldonkey. You just need a webclient to manage deluge 0.6. I would have tried if only i have extra hdd space to backup my data on the 323. My data is just too important to be messing with the firmware.

Re: Alternative torrent clients

for torrents, transmission is better and more compatible, but the Mldonkey have a IPblook funcition ( based in PeerGuardian lists ).

you decide, what is better for you.
