Hello all,
I am having an interesting problem that I haven't been able to figure out. In windows, when I go to a file or folder and right click -> properties and then set it as "read-only" when I go back to properties for the file or folder it will have the file attributes listed as only "archive". I have tried this on a Windows XP SP 2 Home and Professional and I get the same problem. I have an Ubuntu box that I can try this from, but I would have to set it back up. DNS-323's firmware is 1.03.
Is this perhaps a share thing? Maybe because "Volume_1" is set up as read/write if I try to change it to "read-only" it immediately changes it back to read/write? Do I need to go through the "Advanced -> Network Access" and set each folder as read only (In other words, I can't do it from Windows Explorer, only the web panel thing)?
Thanks for your help.

Hello. Archive/Read Only/Hidden are DOS (Windows by extension) file attributes that have no definitive Linux equivalents. Latest Linux kernels support a "store dos attributes" flag in Samba that, if true, allows the Linux file system to store DOS attributes as extended attributes (EA) in Linux. Samba also may map certain DOS attributes directly onto the best Linux equivalent through "map archive", "map hidden", and "map system" flags. All these flags are typically set to No by default; therefore, you may need a bit more digging on how to enable them.
Sorry, this is about all I know regarding the subject, and I'm not even sure if it's applicable to your quest. Just trying to help.
