Hey all, first post from a new join. I have a DNS-323 with 2x500GB drives in a RAID1 (mirrored) array and 1.4 firmware. I want to transition my primary computer from a uTorrent seedbox to just a games and media PC (HDMI to my TV set, no need to leave it on all night just for seeding). I use uTorrent because the private tracker site I use is very picky about versions and clients they allow. I have browsed the forums and I see BT on the 323 is possible, so I would like to try and set that up myself...
That said, I am very technically competent with Windows OS, PC hardware, networking and internet security. What I'm lacking is recent Linux experience; (I used RedHat 5 years ago, hated Linux back then so I've been a Windows guy since). Could someone point me in a direction for setting up my DNS-323 (stock configuration other than the firmware update) so I can eventually run uTorrent from mine?
Thanks in advance!

If your tracker allows anything else than uTorrent I'd advice you to try out the Transmission/Clutch combo. Transmission is the actual torrent client and Clutch is a web interface that controls the client, adds torrents etc. Installation requires some work, but start with this thread.

I just want to add that it's technically not possible to run uTorrent on the DNS-323, since it's a Windows application, whereas the NAS runs a Linux OS.
You'll have to use either mldonkey, or Transmission, or CTorrent.
I agree with vedeja that you should check out Transmission. It's lightweight, there's active development, and the Clutch web interface is effective.

I *swear* I read somewhere about uTorrent running in Linux before making this post... Sorry for teh stupid question. Looked over the download page and yeah, it's Windows only (other than Wine support, but I know better, lol)
Fortunately, it looks like Transmission 0.8X, 0.9X and 1.0X are all tested and approved by the tracker site. (Yay!) Thanks for the recommendation; when I get home and some free time I'll start pouring over that thread. Can I safely assume that the latest is the greatest, or might there be advantages to using something older, like 0.8X or 0.9X?
