I started this thread with the purpose of letting the brothers and sisters here know that we might be able to have the official BT support in the next firmware and hopefully, if there are any one out there currently testing it, can share the firmware.

AFAIK, no one has reported using D-Link FWv1.05 and you and Dlink are the only two user that have reported seeing a DNS-323 running this firmware.
It is encouraging to see D-link's progress on the new firmware; however, please heed Dlink's post http://dns323.kood.org/forum/p13217.html#p13217
this will not be a 'power user' btorrent implementation.

It should not surprise you to find there are folks on this forum,  that do concern themselves with NDAs and intellectual property rights,
and your post is being scrutinized, especially, given the lack of details that accompanied your posted image.

You might find that a 'Robin Hood' approach to sharing is not appreciated, as much as, open honest communication.

It had been my intention not to comment further on the NDA, however, as I'm not the only voice crying in the wilderness ....

The fact that the screen shots were fuzzed to obscure certain details pretty much speaks for itself - whoever did it had something to conceal

sjmac - with regard my summary of the GPL - let's agree to disagree - I see no point in beating that to death, and I'm not being cynical about RedHat, I'm merely pointing out that they now charge you for what was once "shared freely"

Thank you for highlighting dlink's stand that this is not a power users implementation BUT there are still people who wants to try out the original BT firmware from D-Link.

Hello Richnew,

With due respect, your refusal to identify the source of the screen shots does suggest you have something to hide. smile

I must admit I was hoping you had the firmware and could check out a few things (not relating to BT) that is holding up my decision in relation to deploying more DNS-323s.  If anone at all that has access to 1.05 firmware and willing to checkout for me, please drop me an email.

Kind regards,

Jaya

Re: BT on Firmware 1.05

Hi Dlink...haven't heard much on the progress of 1.05 firmware update. Is there an ETA for the firmware?

I purchased my DNS-323 over a month ago and looking at issues some people are experiencing with the drive failure light, I've decided to wait until 1.05...plus it includes BitTorrent capabilities.

I will be using 2 x WD10EACS drives so I hope 1.05 may have tested on these 1 TB drives?

Cheers.

I expect to release 1.05 early next week. It is pretty common practice not to release on fridays due to...well stuff happens and its uncontrollable from my couch at home! Regardless, the official release version will be 1.05b28(will be name 1.05 on US support site next week).

Can you tease us with the Release notes and/or let us know if the bug with the uPnp server on file > 4GB is fixed?

Cheers!

Using two of those same drives in ours DNS-323 running FW 1.03 works without issue, but we did skip loading 1.04 due to several issues reported, opting to wait for 1.05 and see how it works out.

Those release notes are missing the addition of LLTD support for vista wink. I am sure something else got left out but I would have to browse around the device to remember what was missed.

Again I expect to release the firmware early next week officially if it doesn't get leaked before then.

Re: BT on Firmware 1.05

well,  i think many people are waiting for this new firmware for dns-323, because of the BT suport in firmware..

But i think it is only a "extra" of features, because programs like Transmission is always better and better than any firmware like this. The suport is better and more aceptable in private trackers....etc..etc.

But is good, and function only it a extra.

You have to also remember that the majority of our customers do not go to this forum. They are simple end users that want a product and features that are competetive in todays market. It is designed to be easy to use and simplistic because we already know that users here are just going to customize their own units anyways.

And yes Tilly better =P

Maybe but the inbuild BT is nothing special. Once a day users ask for a feature to control their home heating with this little home user NAS. lol

For saving energy it΄s better to let a max. 36W NAS with BT Downloads running then a PC with like 500 or more Watt.

Strange question - I have to assume that you're a Mac user and you're not happy with your DNS-323 - and why I find that strange is that, although I've never tried to access my DNS-323 from a Mac, I understand it works quite well.

Perhaps you like to do explain the question and tell us why you're not happy - maybe someone can help
